Dr. Susan Buenaventura is a board certified plastic surgeon and is the medical director of The Sendi Cosmetic Surgery Center, Inc. She is an active member of the prestigious American Society of Plastic Surgeons and is the Chief of Plastic Surgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. She is also a member of The INOVA Breast Care Institute and advocates for breast cancer patients. She is a member of the Medical Society of Virginia. She performs surgery in her fully AAAASF accredited office surgical suite and at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. She is also a member of the INOVA Breast Care Institute.
Dr. Buenaventura is received a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from The University of Virginia. She received a Master of Science degree from The George Washington University. She completed her M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia. Her general surgery residency was completed at Yale University. She completed her Plastic Surgery Fellowship at The University of North Carolina. She has been in practice in Alexandria, VA (her hometown) since 1995.
She has made numerous presentations on breast cancer and cosmetic surgery and has been published in various publications including "Outpatient Reduction Mammoplasty: A Review of 365 Cases" in the Annals of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Buenaventura considers it a privilege to practice the art of Plastic Surgery and LOVES her job! She meets personally with each consultation. She enjoys getting to know her patients on a personal level and helping them meet their aesthetic goals.
On a personal note, she is married and is a native of the Alexandria area. She has two children and enjoys spending her free time with her family at soccer games, dance recitals and school events. She enjoys classical music, theater and dance.
