Dr. Susan
Buenaventura is a Yale, UVa and UNC trained Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and is the Medical Director of The Sendi Cosmetic Surgery Center, Inc. She offers plastic surgical procedures including breast implants, breast reductions, breast lifts, breast cancer reconstruction, tummy tucks, liposuction, eyelid surgery and face/neck lifts. She also performs injections of neurotoxins and fillers as well as MOXI, HALO, and TRL lasers. Dr. Buenaventura is passionate about her profession and continually pursues education and innovative techniques to achieve great results for her patients.
She performs surgery in her QuadA (https://www.quada.org) accredited surgical
suite and at INOVA Alexandria Hospital (JCAHO accredited, https://www.jointcommission.org). As a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society, she offers surgery exclusively in fully accredited facilities.
Dr.
Buenaventura received her Bachelor's degree from the
University of Virginia followed by a Master of Science in Toxicology from The
George Washington University where her research on Diethylstilbestrol was published in Cancer Research. She received her Doctor of Medicine
(M.D.) from the Medical College of Virginia. Her general surgery
residency training was a five year program at Yale University where she served as Chief Resident. She completed her Plastic Surgery Fellowship at
The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and Charlotte. She has been in practice in
Alexandria, VA (her hometown) since 1995.
Dr.
Buenaventura considers it a privilege to practice the art of Plastic
Surgery and LOVES her job! She meets personally with each surgical
consultation and enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them
meet their aesthetic and or reconstructive goals. She is particularly proud of her wonderful office staff , both administrative and nurses who give exemplary care to our patients. We are proud that our patients continue to return to us for care, and refer their families and friends.
On a
personal note, she is married to David Sendi and has two children. Her daughter Charlotte graduated from The University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering with a BS in chemical engineering. She is the senior packaging engineer for L'Oreal and It Cosmetics in NY. Her son Matthew is an aerospace engineering major at The University of Virginia and is a graduate of Bishop Ireton High School. Dr. Buenaventura enjoys spending her free time with her family and loves classical music, tea, Pilates and travel. She is proud to practice surgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital where her father, Frank Buenaventura MD, was an anesthesiologist for 32 years. She is honored to have practiced Plastic Surgery in Alexandria with Dr. Michael Sendi from 1995 to 2005.
